Worktop Materials of Treston Workbenches

Standard worktops

Treston uses industry standard worktop surface material melamine resin on its workbench worktops but in ESD worktops. The worktops of the workbenches are 25mm particle board that is coated with melamine resin at a thickness of 0.7 mm.

Melamine resin = melamine formaldehyde = melamine (generally known as)
Melamine resin is a plastic material made from melamine by polymerization and it is hard thermosetting plastic material that is often used in making of adhesives and coatings for panels or worktops of various thicknesses. The thicker the board the more durable it is.

ESD worktops

The worktop material in Treston ESD workbenches is 25 mm particle board that is coated with static dissipative high pressure laminate at a thickness of 1.00 mm.

Static dissipative resistance of the worktop

  • surface to ground 106– 108 ohm
  • surface to surface 106 – 109 ohm

High pressure laminate is more durable than melamine resin and is the material often used in environments requiring resistance for heat, solder flux, most chemicals and solvents.

High pressure laminate refers to superimposed layers of resin-impregnated or resin coated fabrics or fibrous reinforcements which have been bonded together, by heat and high pressure, to form a single piece.
